  • Hardware: Nowadays I work on a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop, it's big, heavy, and the lowest end hardware I could find - but it cost me 500 euro, and that's the kind of decisions that we students need to make.

I built the system from parts - dual core AMD Athlon64 4400+, 2x1GB DDR400 matched RAM modules from Corsair, XFX nVidia 6600GT PCI-E graphics card, 3x250GB Maxtor SATA hard drives set up in RAID0/1/5 using LVM2, all in a beautiful black Antec tower case with a Tagan PSU powering a couple of 17" LG TFTs using DVI.
